TransAge Action is Age Concern Barnet's intergeneral project. The project aims to bridge the generation gap by providing opportunties for older people to work with children in a variety of settings, including family centres and schools. Positive supportive relationships may be formed to improve understanding and learning. The sort of work our volunteers carry out include providing one to one help to children with special needs, sharing their experience and knowledge to bring history and geography projects alive, help organise additional activities and provide extra pairs of eyes and ears in the class room, playground or youth centre.
If you are a school or community organisation who would like to know more about having older volunteers to work in your institutions, please email Sian Jones, Development Manager or call 020 8432 1416 or 07505 089 129.
If you are aged over 55 and interested in volunteering please click here for more information about volunteering or contact Sian Jones.
